I.K. Gujral Punjab Technical University (IKGPTU), located in Kapurthala, Punjab, was established in 1997 by an Act of the Punjab State Legislature. It was renamed in 2015 in honour of former Prime Minister Late Shri Inder Kumar Gujral. PTU is one of the largest technical universities in North India, running programs across engineering, computer applications, commerce, management, and applied sciences through hundreds of affiliated colleges across Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, and Jammu.
Every semester, PTU conducts exams for lakhs of students enrolled across BTech, BCA, B.Com, MBA, MCA, and several other programs.
PTU has its own exam pattern and its own way of setting questions. The marks distribution across units is not random, certain units carry more weight and that pattern shows up clearly when you look at five years of papers together.
